This colossal stupa, is one of the biggest in the world. There are more than 45 Buddhist monasteries in the area.Sitting on a flat land as a crown above pastel-painted facades of shops and houses, its massive mandala design, dominates the northeast of the valley with its size and power. Along the stupa’s base is a ring of 108 small inset images of the Boudha Amitabha. Surrounding the triple deck of platforms is an almost round brickwall with 147 inches, holding four-five prayer wheels each. Boudhnath’s powerful silhouette is not interrupted by other structures; instead the stupa shape is strongly emphasized by smaller stupas lying to its east, below the main stupa. This is the one of the UNESCO cultural heritage sites of Nepal.
