The school was established 25 years ago as a joint venture effort of Government of Nepal and the Government of the United kingdom (UK). It owns about 600 ropanis of land (1 ropanis=5476 sq, feet) of which 300 ropanis is currently utilized. It has all the physical facilities of a first grade residential school (playgrounds swimming pool and residential hostels for students and living quarters for the staff). It also has a good library, a modern science lab and a computer center with a number of person computers. Currently it has 771 students of which 172 are girls. There are about 246 scholarship holders of which 191 receive full scholarship and 55 half, Approximately one third of the students receive scholarships which are provided by HMG/N as per the constitution of the school which envisages enrollment of students nationwide based on merit. Scholarships are provided to the meritorious and the needy.
