The Department for International Development (DFID) is that part of the UK Government that manages Britain’s aid to poor countries and works to get rid of extreme poverty.  In order to better understand and address the issues of poverty in Nepal, in April 1999 DFID established an in-country office staffed by a multi-disciplinary team of both UK nationals and staff appointed in country. DFID presence in Nepal has greatly assisted in working with GoN and other donors in the development of understanding and establishment of networks that will promote opportunities for change.
