24 February 1975 ( 12 Falgun 2031 B.S.) coinciding with the auspicious occasion of the Coronation of Late His Majesty Birendra Bir Bikram Shah. This day has since come to be observed as the Education Day in Nepal.Ms. Indira Yakthumba; she founded the School as a tribute to the memory of her beloved husband, His Excellency Late Gyan Bahadur Yakthumba, who died in 1970 at the young age of 50, and to give reality to his vision of a literate and prosperous Nepal.
